The Widows Oil

The Widows Oil has been an amazing story and development. I wrote this song maybe two weeks ago, yes I just checked my notes and it was on December 21st. I recorded a demo in my own studio and the Spirit was tangible I can remember. The inspiration comes from the book of 2nd Kings, I remember feeling like in this season im going to need more jars, more containers for the gifts visions blessings opportunities etc God was pouring out on me. Very tangible experience, so I of course made a song about it. In the Bible there was a woman who was in need and the lord supplied her needs by taking the seed she had and providing her the currency / value of that day, which was oil. She had to collect jars from her community and trust He would fill them. She then sold those same people the jars filled with oil she had gotten from them and from God. I ended up recording the final version of the song at a studio for free by being in the right place at the right time. I like the simplicity of the vocal and may incorporate that more into my own recording process at home. The song captures raw emotion and feeling, some about the work im putting in, about how I see it panning out, about struggles along my path and about hope for where we as a people can go.  I pray it’s a story you can relate to as well. I see the vision for this shoot, me in a field, toiling the ground, and preparing for harverest. In overalls. I gotta get me some overalls for sure.

Ok the overalls play didn’t work. But the video shoot was super fun and im excited to see how it comes together !!
